A couple weeks ago a group of wonderful ladies and I enjoyed a beautiful evening of small bites and yummy cocktails on the Fig & Olive patio. We couldn’t have asked for a better night!
Ashley, Sapna, Starr, Kat, and I joined Danielle and Elizabeth of Wagstaff on the gorgeous, ivy-lined patio on the rooftop of Fig & Olive in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago. We were invited to try the newly-launched summer menu, especially their new cocktails. How could we say no?
We started off with a sampling of all of the new cocktails. But first, CHEERS!
I started with the Cucumber Cosmo which is made with organic cucumber Vodka, elderflower liqueur, cucumber puree, fresh lime juice and is served straight up. It was very light and refreshing. The cucumber gave it a nice fresh summer taste!
I then tried the Rossellini, a cocktail made with passion fruit Vodka, freshly squeezed blood orange juice, fresh lime juice, and also served straight up. This one is perfect for those who love a balanced cocktail that is both sweet and a little tart. Very tasty!
Next I tried the Summer in Provence. Now THIS is my idea of a summer drink. Gin, house made rosemary thyme syrup, muddled blackberries, and fresh lime juice. Blackberries just scream summer to me. It reminded me of all of the summers I spent picking blackberries in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania. It’s always nice when a drink or food item brings you back to a happy memory!
In addition to all of the ultra-yummy drinks, we snacked on some of the ultra-yummy small bites. We started off with the crostinis. We had several different options and they were all absolutely delicious and they are the perfect size for snacking. I think my favorite was the prosciutto, ricotta, fig, olive, and walnut. Sweet and savory… SO GOOD!
Next we had the zucchini carpaccio. Made with lemon, pine nut, parmesan, and olive oil it is one of the most fresh dishes I’ve ever had! Absolutely perfect for summer.
Our last small bite was the star of the show. I think it’s safe to say it was everyone’s favorite! Ladies and Gentleman, I present: TRUFFLE MUSHROOM CROQUETTE!!!
Made with cremini mushrooms, parmesan, béchamel and sitting in a truffle olive oil, these little bites of heaven were sooo good.
We immensely enjoyed our evening at Fig & Olive. It was the absolute perfect end to the work day. You can never go wrong with an evening of drinks, food, and laughs with your girl friends, but Fig & Olive made it even better!
Fig & Olive is located at 104 E. Oak Street, but they’re also located in New York and Los Angeles so head to their website and see where they’re located near you.
